Benji’s Big Win

by Ndũcũ wa Ngũgĩ

Benji, a teenager, attends Kamden Secondary School. He is the captain of the school football team. He loves football and would like nothing more than to have his father come and watch him play. His father’s disinterest hurts his feelings and he contemplates quitting altogether. Even as this is going on, Benji has other problems. A simple act of kindness morphs into a deep-seated rivalry between him and Karis. It is the cocktail of this rivalry, love for football, concern over environmental degradation, adolescent infatuation and determination to win parental love and approval that makes life in Loki adventurous and exciting.

Benji’s Big Win is a story that will certainly keep the reader on the edge of the seat and offer invaluable lessons to the youth.
