Dar es Salaam Water Demand

The issues of who fetches water and for what purpose; where the water is obtained and how; and what is involved in water fetching; and issues of gender, are vital. This study outlines the end-use perspective of urban water demand and examines how it can influence water demand, technology and planning. One objective is to enlighten policymakers on various parameters to be included in forecasting future water demand and in the process of making new decisions on water supply investment.

Chapters include water demand in the different environments: domestic, industrial, hotels, gardening and urban agriculture, brick making, car washing and petrol stations. The analysis is backed up by copious tables of statistics.
