Fountain Junior English Dictionary

This colour-illustrated English language dictionary contains linguistic material and definitions which are culturally specific and relevant to Africa; and which illustrate contemporary usage of English in the East African region. The dictionary is aimed primarily at children in Africa, particularly those in East Africa, who may learn English as a first or second language, and/or who are bilingual. Outside the continent, the dictionary will be of interest to linguistics studying the use of English in Africa, and will serve as a useful tool in educating children about African cultures and ways of life.

The dictionary contains over 9,000 entries, 13,000 definitions and 300 illustrations. Guidance on pronunciation, how to use the dictionary and lists of countries, nationalities and major languages are provided.
