Syl Cheney-Coker is one of Sierra Leone’s most renowned poets; his poetry emerges from the Creole culture of his country. Educated at the Universities of Oregon and Wisconsin, and a former visiting writer at the International Writing Program and the University of Iowa, he published one novel to great acclaim and which won best book in the Africa region of the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize: The Last Harmattan of Alusine Dunbar.”
