He can only take one item at a time, but one day, a farmer asks him to ferry three items across the river: a hawk, a hen and corn. If he takes the corn and leaves the hawk and the hen, the hen will fall prey to the hawk. and if he takes the hawk, the hen will eat the corn! And if he takes the hen and leaves the hawk and the corn, what will he do on his second trip? The reader is encouraged to discuss a solutuion with a fellow reader, and then discover the answer by finishing the story.
