Debrah Anne Nixon

Debrah Anne Nixon was born in Bulawayo in 1965. Growing up in Zimbabwe, she developed a strong attachment to her birthplace and has, over the years, cultivated creative outlets to express her sense of land and longing in Africa. Since 1995 Debrah has lived in Eshowe in KwaZulu-Natal where she has developed a reputation as a painter. In 2002 Debrah turned her hand to writing and discovered that, like strokes of a paintbrush, words have the power to capture a portrait of truth.
