GIORGIO MIESCHER, Lehr- und Forschungsstelle Namibian and Southern African Studies, Centre for African Studies, University of Basel, Switzerland. His main research interest is located at the conjuncture of history, geography and visuality. He is the author of Namibia’s Red Line: The History of a Veterinary and Settlement Border (2012) and co-editor of the Journal of Southern African Studies special issue on the ‘South African empire’ (2015).
