    African Books Collective Chairman Walter Bgoya delivered the keynote address entitled 50 Years of Independence: Reflections on the Role of Progressive African Intellectuals at the ASA UK conference last month. Cheryl Hendricks is currently the Head of the Southern Africa Human Security Programme at the Institute for Security Studies in South Africa. She was previously a political analyst at the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation in Cape Town.
